Just a Myth?

June 16, 2011

I was talking with a friend of mine today. A guy friend. WOW, right? Kinda like Nessie. People claim that she exists, but no one is quite sure. He was trying to help me out with something and I said that I wish I had someone out here, like him. He replied, “any close guy friend you have out there will just want to get in your pants eventually.”

Now, in the past, I have argued this point. There’s no way! I have tons of male ‘friends’. Yet, as time has past and we’ve all moved on, I’ve put said question to some and they all said the same as him, ‘if given the chance, they would have made a move.’. Sounds so ‘high school’, I know. But, most will admit that guys don’t mature much beyond that. (A generalization I know, but just allow me it)

But how then is it possible for guys that I’ve dated to say, ‘Oh, no, that beautiful girl is just a friend.’ I’ll admit, I am a bit confused..

He then goes on to say, “assume they want to get in your pants at some point and you will be 90% correct” (he did say that I could quote him on that)

So, my question still is,
Can a guy just be friends with a girl he finds attractive? I’m not sure I will ever truly know the answer. I can believe in the boy ‘friend’ as I can in Nessie, but am afraid actual proof will be just as allusive.

A Song of Fire and Ice

January 12, 2011

My favorite novel series and one of my favorite authors, George R.R. Martin, are in cahoots with HBO for A Game of Thrones, beginning in April. I am more than a bit apprehensive, as I have my own vision and interpretation of the Fire and Ice characters. Of which, Jon Snow is one of my favorites.

From the previews that I was able to find, it does not look like HBO and Martin will disappoint. However, I am treading lightly over the reviews and withholding judgement at this time. One thing I am sure of…I WILL be purchasing HBO in April.  A Game of Thrones will not be alive and my eyes not open to the magic brought forth through the portal of my wide-screen.

P.S. Mr. Martin, Sir, please bring the anxiously anticipated 5th novel, A Dance with Dragons, as soon as you can. :)
